For Alexis, the perfect day starts and ends outside. It doesn’t matter where she is, each morning she will find a place to sit with her tea and watch, listen, and transition into the day. This is where she meets herself for the first time each day and then, when she moves, she really becomes alive. To her, movement is freedom and discovery intertwined. She believes that moment to moment and movement to movement, working out the sticky stuff in the body allows one to work through the sticky stuff in their heads, to release the physical and mental tensions that bind or hinder us from transforming into the next version of ourselves. As a Pilates teacher Alexis educates her students about movement and gives them artistic license to explore their body from the inside out. Her goal is to add to your toolkit so that you may live a more embodied existence, feel capable, supple, strong, resilient, and closer to whole. Alexis has worked with students in their teenage years through their 90’s, helped those with minimal physical abilities to rehabilitate from surgery and fractures, manage joint replacements, spinal conditions, chronic pain, neurological conditions, osteoporosis, cancer, and internal battles she may never be privy to. Her work is never the same because the student is never the same. Even day-to-day we shift to a new version of ourselves and she loves this about her work; this gets her out of bed and into the car to see you at the studio or through the Zoom screen.
