Dr. Mullen’s passion for physical medicine has been a life long journey. Seeing potential in helping many people regain an active lifestyle and function, she became involved at a physical therapy clinic in 1986. This work lead to a Bachelors’ degree in Athletic Training from Washington State University in 1994. After college, she continued to work at physical therapy clinics and as an ACE certified personal trainer at Pro Sports Club in 1995. During her time at Pro Club she coached triathletes, runners, taught group fitness and spinning classes, and worked mostly with individuals getting back to fitness after injury. Patti earned her massage license in 2000, providing primarily medical massage as an LMP. Wishing to play an even greater role in her client’s health care she completed her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 2012. As a healthcare provider, Dr. Mullen believes that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. The goal of treatment is to assist that ability and facilitate the healing process. Focusing primarily on orthopedics, injury recovery, chronic pain and sports injury, she knows the body is capable of healing from the inside out. This facilitation of healing can be accomplished by natural treatments (trigger point injections and PRP), bodywork, diet and life style modifications, herbal medicine and nutritional supplements. Throughout the course of her professional career in healthcare, Dr. Mullen has maintained a healthy lifestyle herself. She has completed many 5k, 10k, ½ marathons, and marathons, as well as competing in Sprint distance, Olympic distance, ½ Ironman, and Ironman triathlons. Even so, in 2018 she has went through Chemotherapy, radiation and surgery for breast cancer. To her oncologist surprise, she was able to maintain her reasonably active lifestyle all the way through treatment. She continues to be happy, healthy and cancer free to this day.
