On top of recreational sports other activities he enjoys are; climbing, weight lifting and participating in Spartan races and sprint distance triathlons. In previous years a series of physical set backs and injuries has shown Joel the importance of a strong and well balanced body and exercise routine. Going from running through mud and jumping over obstacles to starting from scratch, working on corrective exercises and rebuilding his core and starting foundation of exercises. Joel is comfortable working with all ages, body types or experience levels. Regardless of anyone’s level of fitness, there is always a way to make exercise more adaptable to the skill level of the individual, whether that be making it easier or finding new ways to challenge clients after they conquered their current goals.

Grant Freeman
Grant Freeman

Certifications: University of Alberta – Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology – Clinical Exercise Physiologist Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology – High Performance Specialization Grant has always been active as the importance of physical activity was reflected in the effort his mother put in to be sure he was active. When Grant was younger he participated in any team sport that was available to him; as he got older he stayed active so that he could maintain good mental health. The year 2018 was a turning point for Grant, receiving a concussion in a competitive dodgeball game, writing his last final exam, and overcoming alcoholism. In overcoming those challenges he learned to take a step back and look at the whole picture while still being aware of the pieces within. Grant has trained a diverse set of clients from a competitive rugby team to seniors looking to regain some independence in their daily life. Grant enjoys working with mental health challenges and using exercise to help manage and overcome those challenges; “ask not for a lighter load, but for stronger shoulders.”
